Attorney Profiles

Robert J. (“Rob”) Fleming is a partner in the firm of Katz Wright & Fleming, LLC which is based in Atlanta, Georgia. He focuses his practice on dental malpractice, medical malpractice, personal injury and business litigation in the workforce. With over 150 years of combined experience, the firm has been handling all aspects of personal injury and negligence law for over 25 years.

Rob started his legal career working as an insurance defense lawyer as associate in the litigation section of Coats, Rose, Yale, Holm, Ryman & Lee in Houston, Texas. While at Coats Rose, he concentrated his practice on defending insurance companies, doctors and other professionals in malpractice litigation. He then joined an Atlanta, Georgia based litigation firm where he concentrated on litigating personal injury and asbestos lawsuits. In 2000, he made the decision to devote his energies to representing the victims of negligence and malpractice in the Atlanta area and Rob has focused on this representation ever since.

In 2001, in his first trial as lead counsel in a business litigation case, Rob obtained a $705,000.00 verdict on behalf of his client, a real estate agent who was denied earned commissions when she left the company she had worked for. In Rob’s first medical malpractice trial, he obtained a $5.5 million verdict on behalf of his client, who lost the sight in one of her eyes due to the failure of the defendant doctors to properly monitor her Coumadin levels upon discharge from the hospital after surgery. Rob has also successfully represented the founders of a small software company in a securities fraud business litigation case. Rob and co-counsel represented a company that developed and sold computer-based practice management systems to medical offices. The defendant corporation acquired the client company in a stock-for-stock exchange. Soon after the merger the stock of the acquiring company crashed and claims were filed against the acquiring company and its top management based on false and misleading statements made in the merger agreement. The case settled on the eve of trial for $3,250,000.00. In addition to these verdicts and settlement, Mr. Fleming has obtained a number of substantial recoveries for his clients in cases involving dental malpractice, medical malpractice, business litigation including commission disputes, wrongful death, pharmacy and medication errors, trucking accidents, car wrecks, DUI accidents, serious dog attacks, pedestrian accidents, motorcycle and electric scooter accidents, nursing home abuse, bicycle injuries, gold cart injuries, premises liability including negligent security and accidents at the Atlanta Airport, asbestos litigation, herniated disc injuries, products liability, bus and MARTA accidents, brain injuries, birth injury claims and many other types of cases that don’t fit into an easy classification.

Rob is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, has earned a perfect 10.0 AVVO rating and has been named a Georgia Super Lawyer by Thompson Reuters service over 10 years running. He is a past chairman of the board of the Atlanta Bar Association Lawyer Referral and Information Service Board of Trustees, has served as a mentor to new lawyers in Georgia and is currently involved as a facilitator in the #wordsmatter initiative for Law Day Summit 2019 to be held in Atlanta, Georgia. As a proud U.S. Army veteran, Rob is committed to helping our service veterans with access to the judicial system and to recovery for their injuries.

Brown Convention Center, Houston, Texas; Trial Advocacy, How to Deliver an Effective Closing Argument (Invited Speaker) for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education; How to Achieve Large Verdicts (Invited Speaker) to the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association; and Recent Developments in Medical Malpractice Law published in the Verdict Magazine. He is scheduled to speak in Savannah, Georgia later this year at the continuing legal education seminar.
